EOS is a blockchain that enables smart contracts similar to Ethereum while providing a more scalable and developer-friendly blockchain. To afford scalability, EOS uses the Deligated Proof-of-Stake method to validate transactions. In this process, token owners select a small number of delegates to validate the transactions. The delegates receive a reward for doing so. After Sept. 21, 2022, EOS will be run with Antelope, a decentralized blockchain protocol forked from the original EOSIO blockchain. EOS is also a part of the EOS Network Foundation along with Telos, Wax, and UX Network.
EOS is a story of perseverance along with Telos, Wax, and UX Network. All four of these blockchains were built using EOSIO. When the original creators of EOSIO stopped maintaining the EOSIO code, the four chains banded together to fork the original EOSIO code and rename it Antelope. This is a significant change from the highly centralized ecosystem around EOSIO of old as Antelope is now decentralized/community run. We think EOS could have a bright future due to the actions of its community, but we’ll be even more excited if the solid user base within some EOS-based games migrated over to other EOS dApps.
